William and Madeline Wong, owners of the Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus, last week were inducted into the Hospitality Hall of Fame by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.

The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who show "extraordinary dedication" to the state's hospitality industry. Current members include Julia Child; Frank Giuffrida, founder of Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus; Anthony Athanas of Swampscott, owner of Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston; and the Anthony Spinazzola Foundation; named for the late Boston Globe food critic.

The Wongs were selected for their outstanding contributions to the state's restaurant industry, as well as for their support of charitable and community programs in Saugus.

The Kowloon Restaurant, easily recognized by its oversized pagodas, is a Route 1 landmark. The family-owned business celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. It is now run by a fourth-generation of Wong family members.
